The answer is yes.

At Nordlipolar, we love welcoming families and children of all ages. Creating memorable Arctic experiences for families is something we truly enjoy, and over the years we have introduced countless children to the world of sled dogs.

Children of All Ages Are Welcome

Our standard dog sledding tours with transport have a minimum age of 6 years.

However, this age limit is due to the capacity for child safety seats in our transport vehicle—not because of the dog sledding experience itself.

If you are travelling with younger children, simply get in touch with us. We are happy to organise a private experience tailored specifically to your family.

Every Family Is Different

A two-year-old and a twelve-year-old experience dog sledding very differently.

Young children have shorter attention spans, tire more quickly, and are less able to regulate their body temperature in Arctic conditions. They also require much closer supervision throughout the experience.

Older children, on the other hand, often want to stay on the sled for as long as possible and are eager to learn about the dogs and life as a musher.

Because every family is unique, we believe a personalised experience provides the best day for everyone.

Rather than asking young children to fit into a standard programme, we adapt the tour to fit your family.

Designed Around Your Children

When planning a family tour, we consider the age, interests, and needs of each child.

For younger children, we may recommend a shorter sled ride with extra time to meet, pet, and interact with the dogs.

If your family includes children of different ages, we can organise the experience so everyone gets the most out of the day. For example, younger children might enjoy a shorter ride while older siblings head out for an additional run with the dogs.

Working with children has always been an important part of what we do.

For many years, we have welcomed both small and large groups of children on dog sledding adventures. Earlier in our journey, we also worked with a rehabilitation centre, giving dog sledding experiences to children with both physical and psychological disabilities.

These experiences taught us an important lesson:

There is no "one-size-fits-all" approach when children are involved.

Patience, flexibility, and individual attention make all the difference.

Safety Always Comes First

Nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of our guests.

When young children join us, we adapt both the pace and the duration of the tour to suit them. We also pay close attention to keeping children warm and comfortable throughout the experience.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising their children during the visit unless otherwise agreed with our guides. Working together ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

At the end of every family adventure, each child receives their very own Dog Sledding Diploma as a keepsake of their Arctic adventure.
